A BIG THANK YOU!

The following letter to the editor was in the June 26 issue of the Bastrop newspaper:

River Valley Farmers' Market would like to thank the many people who have provided a beautiful new location for Farmers' Market.

In particular we would like to thank Bastrop Economic Development
Corporation President and CEO Joe Newman and his Assistant Barbara Jeschke, City Manager Jeff Holdbert, and Mayor Tom Scott who were the initial forces behind the creation of this new location.

Bastrop Economic Development Corporation members, Tom Scott, Gary Schiff, Ronald Landrum, Steve Mills, Neil Gurwitz, Tommy Hoover, and Linda Trigg gave their approval for the undertaking. City Council members Dock Jackson, John Creamer, William DeLaRosa, Martha Harris, William Sanders also gave their approval.

Cecil Pennington and Juliette Richey of Planning and Development designed the layout and pole barns. The pole barns are very attractive and provide welcome shade for vendors and customers.

Robert Chris Pena was responsible for having the property cleared and
prepared for the new structure.

One of our vendors, Bill Nogues, donated the cistern on which James Martin painted the sign with our logo which was designed by vendor Jacque Gates.

Mike Fisher of Water and Waste Water and Curtis Ervin of the Utility
Department also had key roles in getting the property ready. Ron Giles prepared signs to give directions to the market. Dolores Leeper, one of our vendors headed up promotion of the opening in the new location. Thanks to everyone who had any part in making this Farmers' Market a market Bastrop can be proud of and enjoy.

Thanks to all who came to our Grand Opening and helped make these two fun filled days with entertainment and prizes in addition to fresh produce.

To be able to sell at the market, vendors must be members of the River Valley Farmers' Market and it must be verified that they are growing what they are selling.

Everyone is invited to come to the market where you will find fresh, locally grown vegetables and fruit as it is available in season. Market is open year round on Friday from 1-6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 2 pm.

Bill Patrick, President
River Valley Farmers' Market
