In addition to being an avid gardener, I am also a computer enthusiast, with a special interest in desktop publishing and web design. This inspired me to become the Publication Officer for the Travis County Master Gardener Association, a position I have held since January 2000. My volunteer duties include editing/publishing the monthly print newsletter (The Compost Bin) for the membership and designing/maintaining the Association Web site (recently at www.doloart.com , now at its own domain: www.tcmastergardener.org).
One of my most rewarding projects with the Master Gardener Association has been the design and production of our recently released (and self published) book-- Garden Guide for Austin & Vicinity, which won a First Place for Exemplary Achievement in Publications for Year 2000 from the Texas Master Gardener Association. With cover art by Dwain Osborne and help from many Master Gardener members with editing, proofing, marketing and sales, we are now in our third printing and in the beginning stages of working on a Second Edition, due out next spring 2003.
